Wellness and Business Related Training
Discover Your Potential, awaken your mind, body & soul
Awaken was born from its creator’s love and passion for movement, education and teaching. As a team, we wanted to create a central hub for training that is easily accessible and offers a wide range of training and development opportunities for those seeking it. Awaken is the collaboration of Sue Ward (The Kinetic Training Academy) Lauren Keerie and Marcela Almond (Seagrass Wellness).
Our vision is to be the main and highest quality provider of wellness and business-related training in the South West. Our primary focus is to effectively develop the knowledge and skills of new and existing practitioners working in wellness, with the aim of aiding progression and success in their careers and personal lives. We train, nurture and help develop skilled and authentic teachers who make a difference to the community and who are able to teach effectively and safely. We are holistic in approach, friendly, adaptable, encouraging, we see our students as individuals and strive to add value and enrich their lives.
Awaken is also a platform where anyone can access the best teachers who offer a broad range of wellness tuition, topics and authentic styles to enhance their professional practice. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels that Awaken is their home and they belong there. Awaken your mind and body, discover your potential.

Meet your Tutors
BA Hons, A.E.T & C.M.P
Marcela’s interest for movement started when she took up ballet at a young age, later discovering contemporary dance and physical theatre. This led her to complete a Bachelors of Arts Honours Degree in Dance and Theatre studies at the Roehampton Institute London. Marcela later went on to specialise in Physical Theatre, inspired by the synthesis of movement, expression and acting. She went onto perform with a range of performance companies working in the style of Commedia Dell ‘Arte and circus skills.
Marcela desired to expand her fascination with movement beyond just performing, inspiring her to transition into teaching. Since then, Marcela has managed and delivered a range of courses including: GCSE Drama and Performing Arts subjects at A Level, BTEC and Degree level. After having lived with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Marcela experienced first-hand, the power of Pilates to heal and maintain a healthy body and mind. She immediately knew she needed and wanted to utilise this knowledge to help others recover and live pain free. From here, she completed her Pilates teaching qualification, Exercise to music, Gym Instructor and Level 4 Holistic and Therapeutic Massage and is an Active IQ Tutor and Assessor.
BA Hons, PGCE & IYN 200 Hours
Lauren has always had a keen interest in movement, the body, physical activity and fitness, first discovered early on in life through her involvement in a wide assortment of dance and movement classes. This inspired and led her to completing and achieving a first class honours degree in dance and movement.
Upon graduation, Lauren discovered her love for teaching and education. Over the last decade, she has managed and delivered different GCSE Dance, A Level Dance and BTEC Performing Arts courses as well as a range of other qualifications in stage schools, colleges and other institutions across the country.
When Lauren discovered yoga, she found instantly, a synergy with the self-awareness, expression of movement, use of the breath and alignment techniques encouraged within the yoga class. Since then, Lauren has used her yoga practice as a form of expression, as well as improving her spiritual and body awareness. She continues to find innovative ways to marry her dance training with her yoga practice and to evolve her own methods and practice.
